Staying in the Game: Winning in the New Economy

Please join us at New York City's largest conference on building partnerships between minority business and major private, public and foreign owned firms. It's the New York & New Jersey Minority Supplier Development Council's Business Opportunity Expo on Tuesday, June 16 at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel.

Plan to attend this fast-paced, one-day event and create your own winning strategies. This year's theme, “Staying in the Game: Winning in the New Economy,” will explore unique tactics and techniques for creating growth opportunities in the current marketplace. Experience a full day packed with an excellent line-up of speakers for the Welcome Breakfast and Sponsors' Luncheon, seasoned experts leading 'hot topic' discussions during our workshops and a variety of key exhibitors during the trade fair. Finally, our networking reception at the end of the day will offer an opportunity to unwind and continue to develop relationships. Each year, more than 700 executives from New York and New Jersey's Fortune 500 corporations, top minority-owned businesses, non-profit organizations, and government agencies participate in the Expo.

At Business Opportunity Expo 2009, attendees will have the opportunity to network with some of the leading supplier diversity executives and minority business owners in the country. There will be workshops on chief procurement officer insights, MBE presentations and a broad range of other topics. At the annual trade fair, both minority businesses and corporate members will have the opportunity to showcase their services and develop new partnerships. Even in the current economy, there are opportunities for business growth.

It's part of The Council's yearlong celebration as National Minority Supplier Development Council's Council of the Year. This brochure has all the details, but here are the highlights:

Keynote Speakers

Walter Bond Walter Bond
After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a BA in Communications, Walter Bond overcame a devastating injury to become the first NBA rookie free agent ever to start on opening night. Walter, the young man who never, ever gave up on his dreams, went on to have an eight-year professional basketball career, playing along side such NBA greats as Karl Malone and John Stockton as a guard for the Utah Jazz and the Detroit Pistons. Toward the end of his basketball career, Walter developed the ability to apply on-the-court success and teamwork to the business world when he and his wife became owners of a national franchise. Walter changed his profession but never changed his winning attitude.

Walter Bond's stories are rich with humor, emotions, and authentic breakthroughs. His inventive phrasing, mannerisms, body language, pacing, and wisdom exert a powerful effect on his audiences. Walter Bond transforms stories into vehicles for connecting the past with a future of success. His presentations open up new ways of looking not only at problems but also at the entire world. His secret? Initiate success by embracing personal and professional accountability. Walter's stories take his listeners on a journey through which they reinvent themselves and recover the confidence they need to focus, align, and deliver results.
